The organization provides technical information, based on its neutrality, analytical capacity, and relationship with both the public and private sectors.
During its year-end session, the Board of Directors of the National Council for the Promotion of Investments (CONAPRI), acknowledged the continuous work of this organization, that maintained its goals intact for more than 28 years.
President of the Board, Alberto Vollmer, gave an account of the main activities carried out during 2018, highlighting the work of Conapri’s four committees: Innovation and New Businesses; Finance; Exports; and Environment, Legal and Regulatory Affairs, which analyze current issues and strategic interest for the business sector.
Conapri is the partner of the World Economic Forum and the Institute for Management and Development (IMD) for the administration of surveys and the provision of statistical information on the competitiveness studies. It is also the only organization, authorized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), for the presentation of the World Investment Report in Venezuela, presented with the Venezuela Investment Report 2017 this year, in the presence of the minister and vice minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and International Investment.
The organization also participated in launching the Program of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in the country and supported the activities of the local consultant team to coordinate meetings with some of its member companies: Nestlé, Cargill, Empresas Polar, Ron Santa Teresa, CALA Laboratories and Protinal – Proagro.
Conapri also introduced the study “Let’s Talk about Investments in Venezuela, proposals to improve the business climate”, developed thanks to the financial support of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Venezuela. This study was widely presented to several instances, such Vice Ministry of International Investment of MINEXCOIN , Finance Committee of the National Assembly, Central Bank of Venezuela, Conindustria, Fedecámaras, CAVIDEA, CAVEMEX, CEDICE and the Latin American Institute of Social Research (ILDIS).
This council participates permanently in the virtual activities of the Practical Communities of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and attends the Regional Dialogue on Integration and Trade Policies: “Direct Foreign Investment as the Engine of Economic Growth,” which It takes place on November 27 and 28 of this year.
As part of its ongoing activities, Conapri provides timely information and specialized technical assistance, that contributes to the materialization and maintenance of investments in the Country aimed at strengthening the productive and social development of the country.
The recent meeting of the Board had the special participation of Imelda Cisneros, founding director of the organization, who expressed his satisfaction for the continuity of the work. “Conapri was born with a mission and this has been maintained for 28 years, despite the changing environment. His resilience has been in readjusting without losing the essence that led to its foundation ” – she said.
